Introducing CRAYONS 2021 - an easy-to-use realistic set of crayon brushes for Procreate. Bring the beauty of wax on paper into your digital illustrations with these simple and intuitive tools.
We've included a free sample of our Handmade Papers which pairs beautifully with Crayons 2021 so you can create a convincing crayon mockup! (I like to use a white background, and the paper texture as the very top layer, set to Multiply blend mode, using opacity to control strength).
As you can see, these brushes behave just like crayons. We've put so much thought into every facet of behavior for these brushes, and we pride ourselves on how easy to use they are. You just treat them like crayons!
Crayons 2021 Includes:
- Crayon Gold - This is the main star of this set. Light pressure will leave a textural, broken line that grows heavier with your hand, but always just a kiss of transparency to simulate real wax and its glazing properties. Tilt your Apple Pencil low to transition seamlessly into a side-shading mode with exaggerated smudge properties, as if you had the crayon on its side.
- Oil Pastel - This brush is capable of more solid continuous lines, and is ideal for fine detail work.
- Crayon Texture Shader - This is a pressure sensitive shading brush that uses a real high resolution scan of crayon scribbles. This brush is very handy for filling in large areas of color, layering, as well as shading.
- Crayon Dust Texture - This is a bonus brush, a lot of times your hands will smear bits of crayon dust across the page and leave this characteristic distressing. I like to use a slightly darker color with this brush to add this effect.
- Crayon Color Palette - I sampled these colors from my kids crayon box and found them to pretty useful!
- Handmade Papers Sample - A single plain speckled handmade paper texture for you to use!

Procreate 5 is here, and its amazing! You can now install a LOT of brushes at once using the new Files app in iOS 11. We recommend backing up your purchase using an iCloud account (its free), or syncing them to Files with iTunes.
First things first... USE SAFARI on iPad!
Also make sure you open the link in the full Safari app (it must be Safari, no other browser will work), as the side-loaded one that gmail/other email apps use won’t work.
Note: Brush files end in *.brushset
Once you click the file name/download button, a blue arrow in a circle should appear in the top right corner of Safari. This is the "downloads" area. Tap this icon and you should see your download appear in a list like so:
Simply tap the file and it should automatically open in Procreate. Depending on if you've performed this before, it may ask you what you want to do with the file after tapping it, in which case you would simply find the Procreate icon and send it there.
